(2) 單複數意義相同的集合名詞

aircraft 飛行器(集) ： Airplanes, rockets, and helicopters are aircraft.

    飛行器(普) ： An aircraft is necessary to convey the supply.

fleet用法和aircraft同，an American feet = A fleet of American warships複數不加s

fish 魚 (集) ：There are a lot of fish in the pond.--------------------池塘裡有許多魚
    魚 (普) ：There are a lot of fishes in the pond.--------------池塘裡有許多種魚

There is a beautiful fish in the pond.-----------------------------池塘裡有條美麗的魚

   魚(物質 不可數)：It is good for your health to eat fish.----------吃魚有益健康

魚類：cod鱈魚，carp鯉魚，trout鳟魚，salmon鮭魚，bass鱸魚，用法和fish同

deer 鹿 (集)：There are many wild deer in the mountains.---------山上有許多野鹿

    鹿 (普)：There is a deer drinking water at the stream.-----有隻鹿在溪邊喝水

reindeer馴鹿，moose麋鹿，sheep綿羊，bison北美野牛，用法和deer同，複數不加s

duck 野鴨 (集) ：There are many wild duck around the swamp.沼澤有許多野鴨

    鴨母 (普) ：The farmer raises over one thousand ducks.--鴨農養了上千隻鴨

duck 做為集合名詞，特指野鴨，人工飼養的鴨子則用ducks，公鴨drake

clergy 牧師，聖職者(集)：There are hundreds of clergy in the mission school.

      牧師，聖職者(普)：A clergy reads Mass for the Sunday church.

單數 = clergyman，複數 = clergymen；clergy複數:clergies

youth 青年(集)：Tens of thousands of youth are crazy about the idol singer.

青年(普)：Jason is a promising youth (= young man).----Jason是個有前途的青年

audience 觀眾(集)：Tens of thousands of audience are excited about the concert.

觀眾(普)：The audience is increasing in number (= The number of audience).
                            The singer bowed to the audiences in return.
crew, staff, crowd, group, public, government, company, college, university, team, …用法亦和audience同

mob 暴民 (集)： The mob who fought with the police were all under arrested.
  烏合之眾(普)： There was such a mob at the station that I couldn’t find you.
                          mob複數不加s

union 會社 (集)：Students’ Union(通常須大寫)
婚姻，工會 (普)：The happiest marriage is a union blessed by children.

                Workers join a union to insure their rights.

Chinese 中國人、華人(集)：Chinese are a peace-loving people.
              中國人、華人(普)：I am (a) Chinese. (可以不加“a”)
