附加問句：置於直述句末，語意上的反向簡單問句，以確定對方了解我們的意思，或徵求對方之同意。

I am an English teacher, am I not?

I am not your style, am I?

You are a student, aren’t you?

You are not a teacher, are you?

You like basketball, don’t you?

You don’t like basketball, do you?

He loves May, doesn’t he?

He doesn’t love May, does he?

He can speak Chinese, can’t he?

He can’t speak Chinese, can he?

You will help me, won’t you?

You will not help me, will you?

特例

What a nice day, isn’t it?

You must be Mr. Chen, aren’t you?

It would be my pleasure to have a dance with you, may I?

The cake looks so delicious, may I (have some)? (凡請求、邀請必用may I)

特別注意

Mr. Smith is John’s father, isn’t he?(正)

Mr. Smith is John’s father, isn’t Mr. Smith?(誤)…(附加問句不可用名詞)

Mary is a sweet girl, isn’t she?(正…主詞是名詞時，附加問句須用代名詞)

Mary is a sweet girl, isn’t it?(正…意指前述整句)

This/That is a book, isn’t it?(正…主詞是This/That時，附加問句一律用it)

This/That is a book, isn’t this/that?(誤)

This/That is your sister, isn’t it?(正…主詞This/That時，附加問句一律用it)

This/That is your sister, isn’t she?(誤)

These/Those are your books, aren’t they?(正…多數時，代名詞一律用they)

These/Those are your books, aren’t these/those?(誤)

There is a car, isn’t there?(正…虛主詞There/Here無可取代)

There is a car, isn’t it?(誤)

He seldom comes here, does he? (正…seldom為否定的副詞)

He seldom comes here, doesn’t he? (誤)

He often comes here, does he? (誤)

He often comes here, doesn’t he? (正…often為肯定的副詞)

You can hardly believe it, can you? (正…hardly為否定的副詞)
