疑問副詞How：用來詢問形容詞或副詞
How are you?-------------------------------------------------------------- I am fine.
How does she look? = What does she look like?---------She looks beautiful.
How do you feel? = What do you feel like? ----------------I feel much better.
How do you find Taiwan? ------------------------------I find Taiwan beautiful.
How do you go there? ------------------------------------------I go there by bus.
How much do you love me? ------------------------------I love you very much.
How much longer should I wait?---------------------------------- Just a minute.

深入探討 How about與What about的差異

A: How are you going?

B: Fine, thank you. How about you?(= What about you? = And you?)

  A: What can we do now?

B: How about going to a movie?(無選項的意見)

(= Why not go to a movie? = Why don’t we go to a movie?)

A: That’s a good idea, but what movie shall we go?

B: What about “Avatar”? (有選項的意見)

A: Why not (有何不可…同意之意) (若無意見可說：It’s up to you.)

疑問副詞Why = For what：用來詢問理由(多半為副詞、副詞片語或副詞子句)
Why are you here? = How come you are here?---- I am here to see a doctor.
What are you here for?--------------------------I am here for (seeing) a doctor.
Why do you love baseball so much? -------------Because it is part of my life.
For what do you love her? --------------I love her for no reason, just for love.

Why not + V = Why don’t you / we …何不…? 請比較上段對話，分辨其語意

Why not go bike riding? = Why don’t we go bike riding?

Why not me? = Why don’t you choose me?

用於感嘆句的How和What：(How + Adj. = What a + Adj. + N)

What a nice girl (she is)! = How nice a girl (she is)!
What a tall man (he is)! = How tall (a man) he is!
What a tall building (101 is)! = How tall (a building) 101 is!
= Isn’t 101 (a building) tall!

間接問句：句中的疑問句，稱之為間接問句，須以直述形表之。

1. Which flower do you like better? -- Tell me which flower you like better.
2. What did you mean? ------ I don’t know what you meant.
3. I don’t know how to do it.
