非限定用法(Predicative use)：作為補語、同位語，謂之表語

【觀念確認】補語(Complements)：連綴動詞後，用來補述前方的主詞或受詞的形容詞或名詞。(詳參 連綴動詞)

Mary is beautiful.

                    That sounds great.

                    He seems (to be) happy.

                    He made his dream come true.

                    The weather is getting warmer.

                    Stink to-fu smells like shit, but tastes delicious.
Those boring teachers make students unknowing.

【觀念確認】同位語(Equivalent)：同位語亦屬補語性質，實則為連接詞和主詞的省略。(關係子句非限定用法詳參 連接詞)

                    The cell phone, on the desk, is ringing.

The girl, waiting for somebody, sopped herself in the rain.

                    Mr. Chen has only one son, who is a college student in Brown.

The people, prepared to sacrifice for their country, are ready to fight.

注意 以a- 為首的副詞做為形容詞時，通常只做非限定用法，而不修飾名詞。

afraid 害怕的    alive 活著的    ablaze 閃爍的    averse 相左的

alone 單獨的     alike 像…的  afloat 浮游的     ashamed 羞愧的

alert 警覺的         aloof 疏遠的    asleep 睡著的    aghast 目瞪口呆的
