Will 與 Shall

同屬現在形未來式助動詞，皆具肯定意味的語氣，然而will用於第一人稱時為意志未來，用於第二、三人稱時為無意志未來，而shall用於第一人稱時為無意志未來，用於第二、三人稱時為意志未來，所謂意志乃指說話者之意志。

will = be going to

I will help you because I am your friend. (意志未來)

He will help you since you are friends, won’t he? (無意志未來)

I shall help you, but I can’t. (無意志未來)

He shall help you because he is your friend. (意志未來)

I will have finished reading the book by then. (意志未來)

I shall have finished reading the book by then. (無意志未來)

I promise that I will accomplish the mission. (意志未來)

He promised that he would accomplish the mission. (無意志未來)

問句中第二人稱用will，第一人稱須用shall第三人稱則二者皆可

Will you open the door? (詢問對方意見)

Shall I open the door? (徵詢對方同意)

Will he come? (他會來嗎？…表期待的心情)

Shall he come? (他應該來嗎？…表反對的態度)

Let’s go, shall we? (附加問句…徵詢大家同意)

Let us go, will you? (附加問句…徵詢對方同意)

Don’t do that, will you? (附加問句…徵詢對方同意)

深入探討 雖然一般視will = be going to = be about to，但意義上仍有差異。

I will finish my work. (將會…，可能還須一段時間)

I am going to finish my work. (立刻去…，還沒開始)

I am about to finish my work. (快要…，即將完成)

【觀念確認】未來式助動詞(will, shall, can, may, must)不可出現在同一句中。

He will can be a good teacher in the future. (誤)

He will be able to be a good teacher in the future. (正)
